December Favorites

Hello friends! My oh my has it been a minute!

Life happens and I didn't get the chance to post for a while, but better late than never I suppose. Because favorites are, well, my favorite, I figured I best go ahead and kick-off the New Year by sharing my December Favorites. December flew by and I have to be honest, I struggled to make this list. I’m a creature of habit when it comes to many things. So, when I find what I love I stick with it. But nevertheless, the list magically came together! I hope you enjoy my December favorites as much as I do!

Book: November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Are you really surprised? Yes, I chose another Colleen Hoover book for the month of December and there’s precisely two reasons for that. 1.) I am Colleen Hoover's biggest fan. And 2.) I didn’t make time to read that much this month, and this was the only book I read. That doesn’t take away from the fact that this book is incredible. Hoover has a knack for developing characters and creating beautiful storylines that flow together so well, in my opinion.

Makeup item: Hourglass Elephant Palette

I’m very easily influenced. Part of the reason why it’s so dangerous for me to have social media and a credit card, but I digress. I follow a makeup artist over on TikTok and she started using this palette. Her face was bronzed and glowing and I immediately thought to myself, “I have to have that!” So, I bought it. And let me tell you something, I’m not normally the girly that wears bronzer, but I am now. This palette is stunning and makes me look like a beautiful, bronzed goddess! There are six shades in the palette: two bronzers, two blushes, a setting powder, and a highlighter. The only sad part of this is that it’s limited edition. Last I checked Sephora and Ulta had this palette in stock, so run, don’t walk, and pick this up!

Skincare: Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

I can’t tell you how many compliments I get when I wear Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. The scent profile, I believe, is pistachio and salted caramel. It is heavenly. I use the lotion that isn't greasy and my skin drinks it up. Buy this and thank me later.

Food/Drink: Brown Sugar Cookie Coffeemate Creamer

I love cookies. So, when I saw that Coffeemate had a chocolate chip cookie creamer I couldn't pass it up. Now I know these creamers aren’t healthy for you because they’re packed with oils and sugars, but we all have our vices and life is short so drink the creamer.

Miscellaneous: Black + Decker Steam Mop

Okay hear me out on this one. I know it’s not everyone’s dream to receive a steam mop for Christmas, but you need this in your life. I bought this to steam clean our walk-in shower and it is amazing. I feel like a steam clean is thorough and kills bacteria. It has six different attachments you can use as well. By the time I was finished, our shower was sparkling clean.

Thanks for checking out last month's favorites in January. As I get back into my writing routine, I ask myself, what are some topics my audience would be interested in reading? I write for personal enjoyment, it's a passion. However, I'm open to the possibility of expanding my horizons and writing about other topics as well! Let me know some things you'd be interested in seeing on the blog down below in the comments or over on my Instagram @thymeandwhimsy.

Until next week!

March Favorites 2024

Without further ado, I bring you my top items in the following categories for the month of March: books, makeup, skincare, food/drinks, miscellaneous, and shower things. Let's get to it, shall we? Book: The Coworker by Freida McFadden Oddly enough, one of my sixth-grade students recommended this book to me. Suffice to say, she's well-read for her age. This book had me hooked from chapter one. I'm not normally one for thrillers or suspense in stories, in fact, I typically enjoy books on the opposite end of the spectrum. My cup of tea would be of the YA and romance genre, mainly because I'm a big wimp; however, this book may have converted me.  Dawn Schiff is the reliable employee. She shows up to work on time every day and takes her breaks at regularly scheduled times. Like clockwork, her coworkers know where she is at any given moment. Natalie Farrell is Dawn's coworker and desk mate. Natalie is described as the beautiful and popular employee in the office. She is e...

Holiday Gift Guide 2022

When the three wise men brought gifts for the baby Jesus, I honestly don’t think they had a clue as to what traditions they started for Christmas nowadays. I use this reference lightly, as I’m not hugely religious, however, it provides a good analogy to the simplicity of what Christmas once was — a time to spend with loved ones. I like to believe that the gifts were merely a token, a fraction of what these wise men could give to the son of God. But, I digress.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love to shop! (Especially for myself…) But shopping for others, now that is hard work. People can be so particular and you certainly don’t want to offend anyone with a well-intentioned gift. What was once a simple token of affection is now almost a sport. I play into it every year simply because I love the holidays. And whether the wise men had envisioned our modern traditions is besides the point. We do it because we love our family members and want to show them so through the gifts we buy them. I...

November Favorites

With the end of another month comes another segment of my monthly favorites. I enjoy watching monthly favorites videos because they always inspire me to try something new. I also just enjoy seeing what people gravitate to. So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite things for the month of November. Book: Verity by Colleen Hoover My book of the month for November (which will come out in December due to this month’s Thanksgiving post) is Verity by Colleen Hoover. I won’t share too many details here because I’ll be sharing them next week, but I will say that this book had me reading on the edge for the entire 336 pages. It’s a different beat than what Hoover typically writes – romance, but she truly mastered the thriller genre. Be sure to come back next week for an in-depth review on Verity or just go buy the book now because you won’t regret it. Verity - By Colleen Hoover : Target Makeup item: L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara I have a lot of mascara in my make-up drawer. And I’m ...
